Driving from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez along the scenic coastal route or the central Pan-American highway takes 6 ~ 8 hours. Depending on the time of year and weather, 4 wheel drive vehicles are normally recommended.

By Air:
Fly from San Jose directly to Carate on a private charter, approximately 1 hour.
Fly from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez, with reservations for a taxi or pick up to/from LagunaVista.
