Horseback riding through the Tropical Rainforest Whether on the property itself, along the rivers or down the beach to the Corcovado National Park, beautiful trails and hiking opportunities abound. Day trips to the Madrigral River and hiking up to the Carate waterfall offer spectacular rainforest viewing and scenery. You may choose organized treks in groups with guides or wander alone along private trails. Horses with guides are available for those who prefer to see the rainforest, rivers and beach from a different angle and pace. Or ride to nearby Rio Oro and try your luck gold panning. A guest enjoys kayaking on PejePerrito Lagoon Try fishing the lagoon and ocean right in front of your villa for snook and snapper. Kayak across our lagoon to the beach, or go on boat night tours to view caiman and American crocodiles. Surf exciting beach breaks in front of LagunaVista or at nearby Matapalo and Pavones for world-famous point breaks. Go swimming at Playa Carate or one of the local rivers … or simply jump in our infinity pool. The choice is yours.

Birding and Wildlife at LagunaVista, Costa Rica Three distinct types of tropical bird life (marine, aquatic & rainforest) may be observed daily around LagunaVista, including scarlet macaws, toucans, roseate spoonbills and frigate birds. Night walks along Playa Carate also provide good opportunities to view sea turtles laying their eggs. The lagoon and surrounding rainforest provide a home for a multitude of wildlife species, including caiman, four different types of monkey, coatis, tapir, puma, ocelot, anteaters, jaguar and much more. Sport fishing on the Blue Pacific Ocean Enjoy relaxing boat tours of the Golfo Dulce out of Puerto Jimenez for whale and dolphin watching. Trips can also be arranged for snorkeling and kayaking Golfo Dulce reefs or nearby Matapalo beaches. Sport fishing charters are also available from Puerto Jimenez for sailfish, marlin, tuna, rooster fish and mahi mahi.We also arrange scuba diving trips to Cano Island, a well-known marine biological reserve.*
